Necklaces, Bracelets, and EARRINGS Oh My!

Most of my working career has consisted of waiting tables as a server, mainly in fine dining restaurants.  Now you fellow servers may understand when I say having uniform "freedom" isn't too easy when you have a strict uniform code.  I have had to wear collared, long sleeve dress shirts for most of my serving positions.  This leaves very little room for jewelry....which was always an issue for me. But thank god women created EARRINGS! Without these glorious adornments my work uniforms would have been lack luster to say the least.  Long ones, short ones, busy ones, simple ones....it didn't matter....I wore a different pair almost everyday! To this day I still have more than I would care to admit.  Since I started making my own earrings my collection has only grown!

Many examples of earring I have created on my "Earring Board"

Earrings of all shapes and sizes. Some made with other necklace/earring pieces and with vintage accents.

Hair Pins: The Greatest Hair Accessory EVER Created

Hair Pins, also know as Bobby Pins might be the greatest hair accessory creation ever! Here is a quick tidbit about hair pins:

{The "bobby pin" came into wide use as the hairstyle known as the "bob cut" or "bobbed hair" took hold. This trend gained popularity in the 1920s, and the bobby pins kept their bobbed hair in place.}

They are a part of my DAILY routine.  Without these bad boys my extremely curly hair would be an Elvira nightmare.  Within the past year I have started to really add to my Bobby Pin collection.  I go on the hunt for these hair pins at almost every boutique shop or art show I go to.  I got sick of paying high retail prices so decided to make my own! My wonderful mother and grandmother supplied me with old vintage buttons and pins that they had stored over the years.  From there I bought some rhinestones and other filigree pieces to create some cute one-of-a-kind Bobby Pins!

Bobby Pins made from old buttons, pins, and scrapbook pieces.
Oh...did I mention these cute pins are only $3!

Necklaces...The Greatest Accent Piece

Necklaces have lately become my "staple" item for every woman.  They are a GREAT way to accent any outfit, from a cocktail dress to a t-shirt and jeans! When I made my first necklace it was simple and had its own unique twist...yet still was not as GRAND as I thought I could do. So, I decided that from there I needed more ideas and examples to spark my creativity! I started on Pinterest , then worked my way to sites like Anthropologie Chicos and Etsy.  My mind was working on overdrive! I began thinking, planning, even sketching up ideas for necklaces.  I began to read up and watch tutorials on how to make and create certain jewelry items.  From there I tried different techniques and used different medias in each piece.  To make a long story short....here are some examples of the necklaces I have created.

The first necklace I ever made.

Bracelet Bonanza

When I decided that I was going to make my own jewelry I first started with bracelets because that was all I knew. I started off making a few simple bracelets....then I made a necklace and a pair of earrings and then BOOM! The engines were running and my jewelry making progressed into so much more then I expected! I was making oodles of earrings, necklaces, and bracelets!  Before I knew it I had made more than I had counter space! So furthermore, here are a few examples of the bracelets I have been making and attempting!

The Start of a New Journey

Hello! My name is Katie Planck, I'm 23 years old, live in Phoenix, Arizona and have an OBSESSION with jewelry.  So with some words of encouragement from friends and family [especially my loving mother] I decided to create my own handmade jewelry line! Every piece is a one of a kind, UNIQUE work of art.  From earrings, bracelets, necklaces and even hairs pins...I make it all!  I have attempted [at my best] to create a website to share my UNIQUE pieces of jewelry with others in hopes to "spread the word" of my new line! I hope you all enjoy my posts to come, for I am excited to share my jewelry making journey with you!
